For most, the movie industry is a mystery. The output is obvious, but the way productions are greenlit is anything but transparent. 

To look behind this mysterious curtain, our friends at Chaos Group recently interviewed Ruairi Robinson, an Academy Award-nominated artist who talks about how he used a spec teaser trailer to not only hook Fox into a film deal, but get Neill Blomkamp (of District 9 fame) to executive produce it. 

That teaser was called The Leviathan, and is basically the beginning of "Moby Dick in Space."
