Happy New Year everyone! We have received quite a few emails regarding when we would host another live artist session. The holidays were a hectic time over here, but we are back in action, and more excited than ever for what we have in store for this year.

To kick things off right in 2017, we would like to begin with a subject a lot of you have asked for in the past: lighting, and the artistry behind bringing a world to life. For this session, we have the awesomely amazing Boon Cotter, who is a Senior Lighting Artist at Naughty Dog.

Boon will talk about the fundamentals of how lighting works in games. He will go over how we simulate and emulate the physical characteristics of light in a digital environment before jumping into how he broke all the rules for the sake of art (while working on Uncharted 4). This live session is for anyone that has been interested in understanding the role of lighting in games. Boon will also be teaching a highly-anticipated workshop offering a high level, anecdotal overview of his creative process, including professional tips and tricks for rapidly achieving good results that support the emotional and mechanical goals of game design.

Click here to access this session on Saturday January 14, 2017 at 1:00 PM (PDT). We look forward to seeing you there!
