SplutterFish Announces Worldwide Availability of Brazil Rendering System v1.0

VENICE, Calif.--Sept. 3, 2002--SplutterFish LLC, a high-end 3D rendering software solutions provider, today announced the worldwide availability of the Brazil Rendering System(TM) v1.0. Brazil r/s is an advanced, fully-integrated rendering suite for Discreet's top-selling animation software 3ds max and Autodesk VIZ, Autodesk's visualization solution. During SplutterFish's extensive beta testing program, digital content creatives gave Brazil r/s high marks for its comprehensive feature-set and highly-evolved global illumination and ray-tracing engine. With this anticipated release, SplutterFish places production-proven technology into the hands of professionals working in the film, broadcast, architectural and product visualization, design engineering, 3D cartoon-style animation and CG research industries to develop compelling, superior quality imagery, including the highest level in photo-realism.

James Boty, co-director of Finkbom, a London-based animation house, states, "We have been using Brazil in the beta stage for the past five months, where it has shown the strength and flexibility to handle the rendering rigors of our print, broadcast commercial and point-of-purchase promotion projects. "

On a recent television commercial and hi-res ad for Honda, the level of control provided by Brazil's shaders was essential to the creation of a photo-realistic image of a car. These shaders are among the key features that demonstrate the benefit of SplutterFish's production experience, and its focus on creating a feature set that is ready for real work. We are presently embarking on a three-minute short, where I finally get to `play' with Brazil, pushing renders in a stylistic fashion and experimenting without worrying about hitting a wall of rendering limitations."

Damian Stocks, CG director of Eye Candy, an Australian animation studio specializing in the creation of 3D content for film, television, Web, computer games and architectural projects, states, "We have been using Brazil since early alpha in a demo capacity and later in the form of the purchased beta. Its ease-of-use is complimented by a rich feature set that is flexible enough to make the simplest renders look stunning, but also produces highly complex photo-realistic imagery and animations. SplutterFish easily provides the very best tech support we have ever had. We recommend Brazil to any production house, large or small, looking for a high quality, reasonably priced rendering system. Brazil is the proverbial `Make Good Button'."

About Brazil r/s
Brazil r/s is designed by and for production professionals as a powerful, flexible and affordable high-end commercial solution for film, broadcast and cross-visualization applications. It offers uncompromising image quality and addresses the need for the natural, streamlined workflow that CG artists demand. "

Brazil Version 1.0 delivers on our commitment to empower artists with a meticulously engineered and mature rendering architecture that is capable of the highest quality imagery and performance," said Scott Kirvan, CEO of SplutterFish. "Based on feedback from early beta adopters who have been using Brazil in heavy production environments, it became intuitively obvious that they would not stand for the release of a `half-baked' rendering system. "

All too often tool developers are guilty of releasing software that is compromised. We have made sure that Brazil v1.0 is stable and efficient and we are confident that production professionals will find the comprehensive feature set a welcome and reliable asset in the rendering production pipeline."

Highlights of Brazil Rendering System v1.0
Brazil r/s v1.0's advanced feature set includes: camera and film effects; motion blur; depth of field/bokeh lens simulation; sophisticated filtering, anti-aliasing; highly-evolved illumination and shading models including super-fast raytracing; task-specific accelerators and shaders; global illumination; non-photoreal capabilities; and support for all the standard artistic "fakes."
