The scholarship, which is to be awarded once per academic year, "was established to encourage the advancement and development of the art of architectural visualization," says CGarchitect.com company President Jeff Mottle. "Architectural visualization is one of the fastest growing CG markets and to date has seen very little public exposure or support. There is some phenomenal work being produced by the next generation of architectural visualization artists, and in recognition of this work, CGarchitect is partnering with ART VPS Ltd. to ensure that those who work to promote and push the limits of the industry will be rewarded for their efforts."
"Good architectural visualization enables anyone to evaluate, understand and appreciate an architect's design vision. Along with innovative and functional design, architectural visualization plays a central role in helping to determine the environments in which we all live, work and play," said Craig Wareham, VP Marketing at ART VPS Ltd. "Whether it is the next landmark city building or a small residential development, high quality computer visualization is the key communication medium used to evaluate or refine the design, make planning applications, address public interest, and often to market and sell the property. In recognition of this important skill, ART VPS is very pleased to be partnering with CGarchitect.com to support, encourage and reward those students who will be the visualization artists of tomorrow."
The recipient of the scholarship, to be awarded on March 1, 2003, comprises a $2000.00 USD cash award and the donation of a PURE rendering card valued at $3699.00 US. The scholarship will be awarded to the student who demonstrates outstanding achievement in the field of architectural visualization and has developed new and/or original techniques to present architectural works though digital means.
