A consortium, including a co-founder of the company, has bought the business and assets of Advanced Rendering Technology Ltd. (ART) – best known for it’s PURE and RenderDrive 3D rendering solutions. Dr. Daniel Hall, one of the co-founders of ART but who stepped down from day-to-day involvement in 2000, returns and will head the new company as Chief Executive Officer.
The new company ART VPS Ltd., which will keep the Advanced Rendering Technology name, will focus its resources and efforts on the Virtual Photography application of computer graphics, where its 3D rendering products are pre-eminent. Virtual Photography allows computers to create images of uncompromising realism from digital data. Generating images in this way can significantly reduce the time-to-market for new products, architectural designs and entertainment projects.
Among those backing the new business is Cambridge investment doyen, Hermann Hauser, and Cambridge entrepreneur Graham Wylie, founder and ex-CEO of XAAR plc, who joins the company as Chairman. Mike Brocklehurst, VP Operations, and Craig Wareham, Director of Marketing, remain with the business as part of the management team working with Dr. Hall.
Both PURE and RenderDrive product lines will be continued and the new company is taking on product support for existing customers with valid warranty and support contracts. The new company will be located on Cambridge’s prestigious Science Park complex, home to many of the areas leading technology companies.
