SIGGRAPH reveals the Festival Trailer for the CAF at Los Angeles.

The SIGGRAPH Computer Animation Festival committee has fnally released the Teaser video for the Festival, with snippets from a wide range of the shorts submitted, featured and awarded as part of this show, being held at the beginning of August in Los Angeles.

The Jury receives hundreds of submissions and presents the best work of the year in daily Festival Screenings and the Electronic Theater. Selections include outstanding achievements in time-based art, scientific visualization, visual effects, real-time graphics, and narrative shorts.

Interesting statistics from this year's amazing content:

There have been 601 Juried Submissions, with 43 countries represented and 289 of them being student entries. There are now 81 Jury selections and over 370 selected entries.

The Festival is open to the public and a one day pass is available for $50. This includes access to Birds of a Feather, the Computer Animation Festival, Exhibitor Tech Talks, Keynote Speaker, Job Fair, Real-Time Live!, SIGGRAPH Dailies!, Technical Papers Fast Forward, and the Exhibition (Tues-Thurs)].

This year's CAF reel is full of images and moving vision that tends to blow away my ideas of storytelling. This amazing piece is by the twin directing team of Mikros Images. Created by Michaël Moercant and Jean-Yves Parent, and a team at Mikros Image, this animated short is totally spell binding. Not only from the visuals but for the sound design.
