Sophia Antipolis, France (September 4, 2002) - REALVIZ®, a leader in image processing software development, has announced the winners of their 2002 outdoor panorama contest, entitled, See Beyond. The event, sponsored by Colormailer (Switzerland), Computer Foto Magazine (Germany), Digital Photo Magazine (UK), Photo & Vidéo Numérique Magazine (France), as well as EPSON, Sony and REALVIZ investor, Intel®, launched in April of this year, and drew to a close on 30. June, with a total of over 373 entries submitted.
This year's competition, which follows hot on the heels of a similar event in 2001, staged exclusively in France, has once again produced an outstanding level of photographic work, from architectural studies and idyllic landscapes, to intriguing portraits and sweeping vistas. Chosen by a select panel of judges, lead by renowned French photographer, Yann Arthus-Bertrand, who is perhaps best known for his work featured in the book La Terre vue du ciel (The Earth from Above'), the winning entries were selected, based on a wide range of criteria, including technical proficiency, eye-catching imagery, and a sense of creativity.
2nd place in the 360 degree category: Nicolas Calluaud
"We are extremely pleased with the level of interest generated by this year's photo contest," said Patrick Dumas, REALVIZ® Chief Operating Officer. "Intel is delighted to be a sponsor of this contest. We have worked closely with REALVIZ to optimize their software products for our high-performance Intel Pentium® 4 processors, and the performance gains really show. The combination of innovative imaging software such as REALVIZ Stitcher® and the Pentium 4 processor, is really bringing professional-level capabilities to today's PC user."
