PLAY! and WACOM are honouring the best artists and art directors in the industry with a worldwide competition.
Sponsored exclusively by Wacom, announces a Call for Entries for its 2011 International Art Competition. The competition is open to artists, art directors, designers and other creative professionals, agencies, publishers and production companies from around the world who are involved in the creation of professional artwork for video game, toy and entertainment industries. The contest will be organized into six specialty categories: Art Direction, Toy & Game Illustration, 3D/Animation, Storyboards, Character/Concept Art and Comics/Graphic Novels.

Over US$18,000 in cash and products will be awarded to 2011 competition winners, including $500 cash PLUS a Wacom Intuos4 Large tablet to be awarded to each of the following six PLAY! Artists of the Year:

• Art Director of the Year
• 3d Artist/Animator of the Year
• Storyboard Artist of the Year
• Illustrator of the Year
• Character / Concept Artist of the Year
• Comic / Graphic Novel Artist of the Year     

Artwork will be entered on-line in 15 professional categories (e.g. 'Best storyboard art used for published video game production' or 'Best animation used in advertising for a toy, children’s product or video game.'). The jury will select a Gold and Silver award winner in each category, with cash awards for each.

Professional print or digital images and animations from any country used in the production or advertising of published video games, toy products and entertainment assets between January 1, 2010 and June 30, 2011 are eligible for entry. No student or self-promotional works will be accepted.

The 2011 International Art Competition is produced by, an online resource published by Serbin Communications which showcases professional artists and design firms with experience in the toy and game industries. PLAY! is designed especially for creative departments, advertising agencies and design firms for toy and interactive game companies.
All award-winning work will be publicly recognized and displayed on the website after the competition results are announced (August 2011).
