Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Production Premium now runs on NVIDIA GPUs utilizing NVIDIA Fermi architecture, unleashing real-time video editing and effects-processing capabilities for the professional market.

Newly certified professional NVIDIA GPUs like the flagship Quadro 6000 for the most powerful desktop workstations, to the Quadro 2000M for mobile workstations.  NVIDIA hardware is running at several booths at NAB 2011 showing how each vendor has taken advantage of the new chip capabilities.

Adobe is demonstrating at NAB 2011 (Booth #SL 3320) Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 software accelerated with NVIDIA Quadro 4000 and Quadro 5000 pro graphics on workstations. In the NVIDIA booth (Booth #SL 2728), Adobe is showcasing Premiere Pro on an HP EliteBook 8740w mobile workstation using the NVIDIA Quadro 5000M. The combination of Adobe and NVIDIA technology delivers real-time previewing and editing of native, high-resolution footage, making possible real-time video editing for both 2D and 3D content.

In fact, NVIDIA Quadro pro graphics cards, based on the NVIDIA Fermi architecture, are being used at NAB this week at the stands for Adobe, ARRI, ASSIMILATE, Autodesk, Avid, Chyron, Pixel Power, Quantel, and Vizrt (and probably several others as well.

Quadro GPUs use the Adobe Mercury Playback Engine in Premiere Pro CS5.5, built using the NVIDIA CUDA parallel processing architecture, delivering real-time previewing and editing of native, high-resolution footage. With Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5, users can also now experience additional features accelerated by the GPU, such as mixing footage for different sources or doing other modifications, including: directional and fast blur effects; film dissolve transitions, and; accelerated media preparation for mismatched media.

Featuring six gigabytes of graphics memory, the NVIDIA Quadro 6000 is great for large video editing projects, like 4K RED raw video streams, and RED decoding using RED Rocket.  For the first time, users can decode and debayer 4K R3D, and play full quality 2K video scaled from 4K footage in real-time with RED Rocket and Quadro solutions.

True stereoscopic 3D production is also supported, using NVIDIA 3D Vision or 3D Vision Pro and the Cineform Neo3D plug-in. The newly certified Quadro 2000 and Quadro 2000M offer the most affordable professional graphics solutions for Adobe Premiere Pro CS5, version 5.5.
