Autodesk has released the 3ds Max 2012. Owners of the Annual Subscription program are reporting downloads have begun. This move heralds a positive step for Autodesk with major acceleration in handling, rendering, screen and all things graphics for those with Max 2012 on their watch.
The XBR Graphics system is the feature that held so much attention. Code named 'Nitrous',the viewport system has promised and appears to have delivered on some 11X increase in handling over 3ds Max 2011.
Grant Warwick is a New Zealand artist whose video review of the 3ds Max 2012 has been doing the rounds in the last few hours. In earlier videos he shows the sluggishness of Max 2011, just about throwing the box out the window. But the plain sailing begins as he opens 3ds Max 2012 and sets up a model.
