Re-branded for 2013 as the 3D Artist CG Student Awards, this annual event showcases and rewards excellence in computer graphics from students and recent graduates.
"This is a huge year for the awards”, declared Andrew McDonald, co-founder of the awards. “Not only do we have a new Naming Rights Partner - 3D Artist, but have opened up the playing field to include a dedicated Next-Gen Games category. To top it off, with the support of our amazing sponsors, we have our largest prize pool ever. We are also offering the School of the Year winner over US$50,000 in prizes which should make things very interesting. With all this happening, we can't wait to see the caliber of entries submitted." To date, the event has kick-started the careers of countless digital artists and has awarded in excess of US$200,000 in prizes.
The 2013 awards is split into four main categories:
School of the Year
There is a massive prize pool of over US$150,000 and six (6) studio internships spread across London, Los Angeles, and New York. The 3D Artist CG Student Awards runs from 7 March 2013 until 3 June 2013. Finalists will be shortlisted on 20 May 2013 with the Winners announced on 3 June 2013.
The awards has an extensive list of high profile companies sponsoring the event. Our five platinum sponsors include Conceptshare, Digital-tutors, Next Limit Technologies, Side Effects Software, Stash Media. Other notable industry sponsors include: Pixologic, The Foundry, Chaos Group, Ballistic Publishing, CG Workshops, Tyroe, Digital Rummage, and 3D Total. Leading production studios Double Negative, Prime Focus, Framestore, and The Mill are also offering six professional internships throughout Europe and USA. Each studio offers slightly different internships, but an internship winner can expect to receive two to four month professional experience, support and guidance from industry leading experts, standard intern salary, and an amazing opportunity to network and prove your skills.
CG Student Awards
The CG Student Awards is an annual event which showcases and rewards excellence in computer graphics from students and recent graduates. To date, the event has already helped kick-start the careers of countless digital artists and given away over $200,000 in prizes. Qualified students at schools from all over the world are encouraged to submit their demo reel and artwork to our judging panel and compete for prizes and internships at the world's leading production studios.
